Coffee Value Chain Exploration Programme
Explore the intricate value chains of coffee, one of Kenya’s most iconic beverages.

- Where: Tatu City / Kiambu
This immersive four-day programme provides students with hands-on learning across the entire coffee value chain, from cultivation to retail. The programme helps students to identify areas for innovation in a value chain by deepening their understanding of economic, environmental, and social dimensions. Using the coffee industry as a model, students develop transferable skills, engage with experts, visit farms and processing facilities, and tackle innovation challenges. This holistic approach prepares them to be ecopreneurs aware of farm-to-table processes.

Learning Outcomes
Students will gain a deep understanding of the coffee value chain, from cultivation to retail, while developing entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills. They will analyze industry challenges, such as climate change and workforce roles, and propose sustainable solutions. Through branding and marketing exercises, they’ll explore consumer engagement strategies. Hands-on activities and team collaborations will strengthen leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, culminating in a pitch competition where they present innovative business ideas to industry professionals.
